William J. Hudspeth, Jr.
Mr. Hudspeth is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Austin Trust Company. He served as Vice President and Trust Officer of Austin National Bank and subsequently, Senior Vice President and Trust Officer in charge of the trust department of RepublicBank Austin. Mr. Hudspeth founded Austin Trust Company in 1987 after Texas law was changed to authorize the incorporation of trust companies under the supervision of the Texas Department of Banking. Austin Trust Company is the first trust company to be chartered under the new law and has Charter No. T-001.
Mr. Hudspeth is a member of the following organizations: Texas and Travis County Bar Associations; the Real Estate, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Texas Bar; Austin Assembly; Knights of the Symphony and Bachelors Club of Austin. He serves as an Advisory Director of The Settlement Home. He is Past President of the Young Men’s Business League and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Austin. He has also served as a Director of the Better Business Bureau, Austin Country Club, and as an Advisory Director of Caritas and the Arthritis Foundation. He received his B. A. from Amherst College and his J. D. from The University of Texas School of Law.
William P. Boone*
Mr. Boone is the Owner and President of Foodservice Management Systems, Inc., a full-service management company that provides operations, accounting and marketing services to over eighteen restaurants including multiple Gatti's Pizza, GattiTown and Hang Town Grill restaurants. He is also involved with Mr. Gatti's, Inc., the largest franchisee in terms of number of stores and total revenues. Since 1994, Mr. Boone and Foodservice Management Systems, Inc. have been the pioneers in developing the GattiLand/GattiTown "big box" concept with over sixteen store openings to date. Prior to Foodservice Management Systems, Mr. Boone was with Frostex Foods, Inc., an Austin-based food distributor, where he served as Part-Owner and President until the business was sold to Kraft in 1987. During his involvement with the company, revenues increased from $10 million to $120 million in sales.
Mr. Boone served as Director of the National Frozen Food Association and was a board member of the Austin Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for Institutional Distribution Magazine, and was appointed by President Carter to the White House Conference on Small Business. Mr. Boone is an attorney and CPA having received his B.B.A. and J.D. degrees from The University of Texas at Austin. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force reaching the rank of 1st Lt. Employment at Ernst and Young in San Antonio and McGinnis, Lochridge & Kilgore, LLP in Austin preceded his position with Frostex Foods.
William B. Boyd*
Mr. Boyd, retired, served as Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of American Standard until his retirement in 1989. He joined the company in 1975 and subsequently served as Group Executive in charge of the Western Hemisphere Building Products Group and as Senior Vice President, Building Products. In this position, he directed the company’s worldwide manufacturing and sales of plumbing fixtures, fittings and specialty building products.
Prior to his service with American Standard, Mr. Boyd was President of the Carrier Air Conditioning Company and Group Vice President of the Environmental Systems Group. Mr. Boyd spent 20 years at General Electric in various engineering, manufacturing and general management assignments. He served as a Director of American Standard, Armco, Ensearch Corporation, FMC Corporation, The Economic Club of New York and The University Club of New York. A native Texan, Mr. Boyd received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Texas A & M University and is a licensed professional engineer in Ohio, Indiana and Texas.
J. Tim Brown
Mr. Brown is a real estate investor and managing partner of several real estate partnerships owning investment property and ranch land. Formerly he was Production Manager of the Austin American-Statesman, Executive Vice President of Newspapers, Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors of RepublicBank Austin. He has served as President and board member of the Young Men’s Business League of Austin and the Balcones Council of Camp Fire Girls as well as Chairman and board member of the Centex Chapter of the American Red Cross. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Region XIII Education Service Center, United Way/Capital Area, West Austin Youth Association, Les Patrons of the Paramount Theatre, Austin Country Club and Headliners Club. He attended Washington & Lee University and received his B.S. from The University of Texas at Austin.
David B. Daviss*
Mr. Daviss, retired, began his business career with Underwood, Neuhaus, an investment banking firm in Houston. He relocated to San Antonio to accept a position with Swearingen Aircraft. Mr. Daviss is a CPA and has served as Chief Financial Officer of Church’s Fried Chicken, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer of La Quinta Motor Inns and Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Luby’s Cafeteria. He has a mechanical engineering undergraduate degree from Rice University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
James A. Flieller*
Mr. Flieller is a partner with Flieller, Kruger & Skelton, LLP. A Certified Public Accountant since 1980, Mr. Flieller has wide-ranging experience in tax planning issues. Among his areas of knowledge are income tax, estate/gift/generation-skipping transfer tax and non-wealth transfer tax matters. Mr. Flieller holds a B.B.A. with honors and a Master of Professional Accounting, Taxation, from The University of Texas at Austin. He began his public accounting career in 1979 in the Austin office of Peat Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) where he continued with the company for 12 years; five of them as partner. He then became a shareholder in Powell, Ebert, Flieller & Smolik, P.C. At the end of 1994 he founded the firm that is now Flieller, Kruger & Skelton, LLP.
Thomas A. Forbes
Dr. Forbes has practiced law in Austin since 1975 and is a partner at KempSmith LLP. He is a Life Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and American Bar Foundation and a Life Member of The University of Texas School of Architecture Advisory Council. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and served two terms as President of its alumni association. He was honored with Southwestern University’s Citation of Merit in 1996. Mr. Forbes is a former Chair of Leadership Austin and is the Founding President of the Center of Child Protection. He received the first Volunteer of the Year award presented by the Texas Association of Children’s Advocacy Centers. He received his B.A. from Southwestern University and his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law.
Melissa Ann Jones
Ms. Jones is a member of both The Blanton Museum of Art Advisory Council and the Advisory Council of the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of the Board of Visitors at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, and a board member of both the Texas Democracy Foundation and the Advisory Board of Greenlights for Non-Profit Success. Ms. Jones worked in broadcasting in Texas and California before moving to Austin in 1978. She is a Past President of The Settlement Club of Austin which operates a residential treatment center plus foster family and adoption program for abused and neglected children. Ms. Jones received her B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin.
Robert E. Knight*
Mr. Knight is President of Knight Real Estate Corporation, an Austin real estate brokerage, management and development company. He is also the manager of numerous partnerships created for the purchase, operation and resale of a variety of investment properties. An adjunct professor at The University of Texas at Austin, he has taught real estate investment, appraisal and urban land development courses.
Mr. Knight has served as state court arbitrator and federal court bankruptcy trustee for two of Austin’s largest home builders and as an expert witness and/or consultant to attorneys involved in numerous condemnation suits. Active in civic and professional organizations, he has been a director of the Texas Association of Realtors and the Austin Board of Realtors. Mr. Knight received his B. A. and J. D. from The University of Texas at Austin and an M. B. A. from the University of Virginia. He is a certified commercial/investment member of the Commercial Investment Real Estate Institute.
William S. Livingston*
Dr. Livingston, retired, was the Senior Vice President of The University of Texas at Austin. A lifelong educator, Dr. Livingston has been Chairman of the government department, the graduate assembly, the faculty senate and the comparative studies program. He served as Vice Chancellor of Academic Programs for the U. T. System, as Dean of Graduate Studies, and the Jo Anne Christian Centennial Professor of British studies. In addition, Dr. Livingston served as Acting President of the university for two years. He has been a visiting professor at Yale and Duke and was USIS lecturer in the United Kingdom and India. He received his B. A. (Phi Beta Kappa) and M. A. from Ohio State University and his Ph. D. from Yale. He authored numerous publications in the field of political science and has been active in political science and philosophical societies.
Kenneth Miller
Mr. Miller manages oil and gas investments situated in Austin and East Texas. In addition, he has experience in real estate development in the Austin area. While a quartermaster in the U. S. Army, Mr. Miller served several tours of duty in Vietnam. Born in Austin, Mr. Miller graduated from St. Edward’s University with a degree in business. He has done graduate work in business economics at Claremont College and in economics at Southern Methodist University.
Dan M. Remick
Mr. Remick is President of Austin Trust Company. He served as Vice President of Mbank-Alamo (formerly Alamo National Bank) and RepublicBank Austin as well as Senior Vice President in charge of the trust department of First City Bank, San Antonio. Mr. Remick is a member of the Advisory Council of The University of Texas Health Science Center. He serves as an Advisory Director for the Salvation Army in South Austin and Crosspoint, Inc., a halfway house located in San Antonio. He received a B.A. and a B.S. from The University of Arizona and is a graduate of Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.
A. Gary Shilling*
Dr. Shilling is President of A. Gary Shilling & Company, Inc., economic consultants to a number of leading financial institutions, industrial corporations and registered investment advisors. Before establishing his own firm in 1978, he was Senior Vice President and Chief Economist of White, Weld & Co., Inc. At twenty-nine years of age, Mr. Shilling set up the economics department of Merrill, Lynch, Pierce, Fenner & Smith and served as the firm’s first Chief Economist. Prior to Merrill, Lynch, he was with Standard Oil Co. (N.J.) in charge of U. S. and Canadian economic analysis and forecasting. He was on the staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco and Bank of America. He has published numerous articles on the business outlook and written 6 books on economic forces and investment and business strategies. He received his B. A. in physics magna cum laude (Phi Beta Kappa) from Amherst College and earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University.
Gabe Felder Thornhill
Mr. Thornhill is President of Thornhill Securities, an independent financial services firm based in Austin, TX. Previously, he worked eight years for JP Morgan Investment Management, Houston, TX, as an analyst and fund manager. During that time he followed financial services companies, technology stocks and ultimately co-managed two small cap funds with total assets of $1.8 billion. Prior to JP Morgan, he was a corporate lending officer for national mortgage finance companies with Texas Commerce Bank, Houston, TX. Mr. Thornhill earned his B.A. and M.B.A from The University of Texas at Austin, attended Washington and Lee University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
